1. Technical Description

1.1 System Overview

Flexibility means freedom of ideas in the design phase, compatibility with the needs of the site, and independence from schemes that prevent future reconfiguration of space.

The CAM (Conditioned Air Module) is a local air conditioning unit designed to satisfy these necessities. Good design and compact dimensions allow it to be placed free-standing in the working environments, or in a plant room, even a small one.

Chilled and heating water supplies are required and are delivered to the CAM by means of small diameter pipework and condensate water is drained away. Small ducts to the exterior will be required for fresh-air input and used-air exhaust.

A wide range of bases allows different methods of air distribution in the under-floor area and adaptability of the machine to the most varied layout solutions.

The absence of ceiling air ducts makes installation simple and fast, while a suitable arrangement of the water circuit will allow economic re-siting and expansion if necessary. Like all the components of the UCS (Underfloor air Conditioning System), the CAM has been designed to integrate with the work environment and follow it as it evolves.

1.2 Conditioned air in the floor void

The CAM is a modular conditioner which takes in air from the space under the floor and returns it to the void fully conditioned.

The air thus treated is distributed in the rooms bv the CTU/FTU terminal units.

Each CAM treatment unit serves a single homogeneous zone. It is a simple and innovative idea which overcomes the barriers enforced up till now by traditional systems

1.3 Pure air and accuracy

Continuous and efficient filtering allows high levels of air purity to be maintained and a sophisticated regulating system guarantees accurate temperature and humidity control.

Fresh air may be delivered to the return section of the floor void where it mixes with the recycling air and is then treated by the conditioner.

Instead of increasing the variation in temperature, preference was given to working with high air flow capacities: the objective of a comfortable environment is thus achieved with excellent ventilation and minimum temperature differences.

2. Technical Characteristics

2.1 Model Range

The CAM is available in three different models: CAM15, CAM25 and CAM35, with cooling capacities varying from 5 to 33 kW, One unit is sufficient for the conditioning of areas of up to 300 square metres.

2.2 Acoustic Panels

All the units may be provided with a second set of side and front panels in order to improve the aesthetic and acoustic characteristics.

2.3 Structure

The unit is constructed from a sturdy steel frame with casing panels which include self-extinguishing insulation material offering good sound and heat transfer characteristics.

Additional casing panels are available on request.

Frame and panels are pre-treated and stove-enamelled in the colour Pearl White (RAL 7032).

2.4 Filter Section

The filters are of the synthetic type with pleated fibres and are housed in the front part of the CAM to allow easy maintenance.

The standard model offers class EU5 efficiency (Eurovent 4/5), but filters of various classes are available on request (EU3 or EU7).

2.5 Coils and Valves

The basic unit is provided with a three-row coil with copper pipes and aluminium fins for supplying hot or chilled water.

On request, a one-row coil is available for hot water supply and/or a two-stage electric heater for heating or re-heating.

All coils are provided complete with three-way valves and automatic actuators.

2.6 Fan section

The fans are double intake and are directly coupled to variable-speed motors with built-in thermal protection.

The impellers, which are statically and dynamically balanced, are mounted on permanently lubricated supports to ensure silent and vibration-free operation.

2.7 Electric Panel

The electric panel is entirely wired up in the factory and conforms with IEC and CEI standards.

It is completely isolated from the air flow and easily accessible from the front panels.

CAM Humidifier

2.8 Humidifier

On request the unit may be equipped with an electronic steam humidifier using normal and not distilled water.

Steam humidifying guarantees sterilization of the air before it is discharged to the environment and prevents the formation of funghi or bacteria.

2.9 Cooling

Thanks to the design of the coil, the CAM achieves an excellent cooling capacity with a sensible heat factor, which guarantees control of the environmental temperature and humidity.

2.10 Heating

The standard three-row coil may be supplied with low temperature hot water for heating purposes. Alternatively, the CAM may be fitted with an additional single-row coil for heating only.

Where hot water is not available the CAM can be fitted with a two-stage electric coil with the following maximum capacities:

CAM15 4,50 kW
CAM25 10,55 kW
CAM35 14,85 kW
