AET Flexible Space is delighted to have received the order to supply a prestigious Korean Corporation with its world renowned Under Floor Air Conditioning (UFAC) system for their new 30,000m2 Headquarters building.  AET have received the order through their Korean distributor, Shinsung Engineering, who has supplied the Flexible Space under floor A/C system to high class office developments since the late 1990’s, for clients such as the National Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), The Korea Development Bank, SK Telecom and LG Telecom amongst others.

The AET Flexible Space system makes use of a standard raised floor void as the supply plenum for conditioned air. This plenum can be as low as 200mm and can potentially make ceiling voids unnecessary.  Individual zone units deliver cool or warm air to the void and locally positioned fan assisted air terminals introduce the air into the room space above. The terminals are known as ‘fantiles’ for the way they replace a standard floor tile.  They only require power and data connections, and no pipes or ducts are required, allowing the fantiles to be relocated in about 1 or 2 minutes compared with the major time and cost of the rearrangement of conventional fancoil systems; hence the name ‘Flexible Space’.

In many refurbishments in London, head room height is a primary consideration to gain maximum rent.  The AET Flexible Space system can offer increases in head room often in excess of 300mm compared with conventional ceiling systems.  In New Builds, this same advantage can be used to reduce the overall height of the building, often by more than 10% compared with conventional ceiling based systems, where voids are often more than 600mm and raised floors often 150-300mm.

Cost savings in the region of 7-10% of total construction cost have been recorded by the Swedish National Pension Fund, Davis Langdon and Everest amongst others.  Energy Savings in the region of 20-30% have been reported by many users.  The systems being designed in UK at the moment feature EC fans in all equipment thus achieving high EPC ratings.

The Flexible Space System has been installed in millions of sq ft of projects worldwide, and AET remains the leader of UFAC fantile technology.  For additional information please call us on 01342 310400 or take a look at our website www.flexiblespace.com.
