What is Flexible Space
The Hiross Flexible Space System, designed and built in Italy, is an underfloor airconditioning system making use of the floor void directly as a plenum for the distribution of air. Flexible Space means that your workplace can offer a total ability to respond efficiently and economically to your constantly changing business needs.
Flexible Space means that your environment can adapt without waste. AET has the experience and skills to specify and install whatever is needed to give you the benefits of Flexible Space. The products we recommend include:

A quality indoor environmentThe Flexible Space system is centered round the needs of the individual, and responds to ever changing human and technological demands. It can easily and inexpensively be modified or expanded as many times as required; it is a modular design utilising raised access flooring. The subfloor delivers ventilation, and all the other building services are located under the raised floor. This includes cabling for computers, telephones, faxes, fire alarms, and security. New services or changes to an existing network are achieved by simply lifting floor panels.

Moving the internal partitionsDo you want a bigger office here, or more space there. Have you suddenly hired more staff and must find space.Change often starts by the need to move partitions. With the Flexible Space concept you can move things quickly, economically, and without waste.

|
A tidy underfloorToo often the services under the raised access floor are a jumble of cables, disorganised, untidy, not labelled, and almost impossible to understand and modify. With the Electropatent Power,Voice and Data System all this can be as neat and tidy as the office above the floor. |

|
Freedom to design in older buildingsRenovation of old buildings sometimes ends up with concealment of fine ceilings and destruction of all the character. With Flexible Space all the services are beneath the raised access floor. The atmosphere of the building can be preserved at the same time as upgrading the working conditions for the occupants to the highest standards. |

![]() | Each floor is divided into individual thermally homogenous zones up to approximately 300 square metres, each covered with Nesite Raised Access Floor and served by a Conditioned Air Module (CAM) treating and supplying conditioned air to the floor plenum. Supply and return air paths are established by baffles in the floor void: air is drawn by Console and Floor Terminal Units and then returned to the plenum through air grilles, easily positioned to suit any architectural interior design. |
|
Conditioned Air Module
The CAM range covers cooling and heating needs by distributing the
air under the floor: either chilled or hot water is supplied to a heat exchanger coil or a dual coil system. These factory wired modules continuously monitor and control the air temperature both in the floor plenum and in the ambient for each assigned zone. High efficiency filters provide air cleanliness and an electrode steam humidifier (5kgih) provides humidity control. CAM may be enclosed in partitions or left free standing in shafts, corridors, technical rooms or in the working space.

Console Terminal Unit The CTU quietly draws air from the plenum for distribution in the work space.

Floor Terminal Unit The FTU or 'Fantile' operates in the same manner as the Console Terminal Unit. The Fantile, however, is recessed into the floor to offer even greater space gain. The Fantile can easily replace an Access Floor Tile anywhere in the room and be used as part of the walkable surface, making it particularly suitable for open space plans.

Return Air Grille The return air grille is specially designed to efficiently return air to the plenum and is fully adjustable in height to adapt to the thickness of any floor tile. The unit can be fitted with accessories such as sound attenuators, for areas where the strictest sound control is required, and collecting trays.

Raised Access Floor
The Nesite Raised Access Floor is a fundamental component of
the Flexible Space System consisting of
a variable height steel substructure on
which a wide variety of modular 60cm x
60cm tiles can be laid. This forms a
uniform surface with the appearance of a
solid floor. The access floor also creates
the void to house all building services,
and the plenum, with a standard 250-
300mm recommended height for
conditioned air circulation (200 mm
minimum net height). Several types of surface finishes are available for different applications, from loose laid carpet and vinyl linoleum to high quality ceramics, parquet, granite, marble and inert panels for special applications including public buildings, food halls etc. Nesite Access Floor fully integrates with all components of the Flexible Space System.

Fresh Air Module Fresh Air may be separately introduced in each zone by a compact Fresh Air Module installed in the under floor void. These units are equipped with their own fans and removable filters. Air is directly introduced from the outside into the under floor circuit for treatment by the Conditioned Air Modules. The Fresh Air Module fully covers fresh air requirements and allows maximum flexibility.

Underfloor Baffle The baffle creates the under floor paths required for the supply and return air. These baffles are specially designed to fit with the Nesite Access Floor and for ease of installation. They may be quickly repositioned if different air flow patterns are required. They are easily crossed by piping and cabling systems without permitting air migration.

Movinord Demountable Partitioning Movinord partitions are available in a wide range of styles and surface finishes. They are quick to erect, and easy to demount and re-erect when a change of office layout is required. |
